Embrace Change

As a driven leader, you live in a world filled with new challenges, shifting priorities, and an endless stream of decisions. I wonder, how do you respond when things get intense, when faced with uncertainty, or when things don’t go as planned? Do you notice when this happens?

For many, the instinct is to resist. You strive to control outcomes. But resistance comes at a cost. It drains your energy, narrows your focus, and creates unnecessary tension. What if, instead of resisting, you embraced change as part of the rhythm of your life?

Every moment you experience, whether a success or a setback, is fleeting. Judy Lief, a prominent Buddhist teacher, explains that experiences arise, dissolve, and shift before you even have time to process them. When you accept this impermanence, you stop fighting the natural flow and start moving with it. You see opportunities in obstacles and find calm amidst chaos.

This shift in perspective allows you to meet challenges with curiosity, or said another way, a beginners mind. When you do this, you unlock creativity, resilience, and the freedom to approach life and business with a sense of openness. This is where the magic happens.

Journaling Prompt (3 Minutes)

Think back to a moment when you resisted change at work or in life. How did holding on tightly feel? How might embracing the change have opened up new possibilities for you?

Inspiration for this Week

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” – Lao Tzu

When you embrace change, you allow life to unfold as it’s meant to. In that acceptance, you’ll discover strength, growth, and the freedom to thrive.
