What Inner Peace Looks Like For Me

Something I say often is that inner peace looks different for each person. I can’t tell you what inner peace will look like you. I can only speak to how it exists for me.

For the longest time I thought inner peace was impossible. I thought I would have to sacrifice my drive and that inner peace was something for other people. I’m glad to say I was wrong.

For you, inner peace may look like feeling like the calm in the storm, no matter what is going on around you. It may look like being connected to who is present with you in conversation. It could look like knowing you;’re making decisions based off what’s most aligned for you or your company, instead of your fears of what will happen if you don’t take an action.

For me, inner peace looks like allocating my time properly. I know exactly how much time a week I need to deliver my craft to the world without over extending myself. I also know exactly how much time I need to be in production so I don’t get bored or harness my drive in destructive ways.

I’m able to trust my decision-making more. I’m also able to be more receptive to the thoughts of others, even when they are surprising to me. I’m still a passionate person and I’ll still want to express my thoughts and opinions.

Some of the external treats of inner peace are taking two sabbaticals a year. I really give myself the gift of being able to step away from all my businesses, know that they’re in great hands, and that I’ll come back with a big aha that will create even more impact.

In my personal life, I feel more present with my loved ones. They tell me that I seem less distracted. When I’m leaving the office, I’m really leaving the office. The people that I care about see that change in me, and I can also see a difference in the people who choose to be around me more. I’ve discovered that the people who accept their own True Self most easily are the people who gravitate towards me, and those who are still uncomfortable with that idea drift away.

Inner peace is living my optimal life in both my inner world and outer world.

Take a moment to consider what peace looks like for you. It doesn’t have to be letting everything go, or releasing even an iota of your drive. It can be harnessing your drive, and spending your time better both when you’re working and when you’re with loved ones.

If you would like to experience greater inner peace in your entrepreneurial journey, I urge you to join the next session of The 10 Disciplines Group Coaching, beginning September 16th.
