Embracing the Energy Within and Around Us

In our book, Shine, Gino and I emphasize the concept that we are all pure energy. Accepting that you are pure energy opens the door to understanding that everything around you is also pure energy. This perspective can beautifully change how you interact with the world and yourself.

The Power of Awareness

Awareness is an important element in our journey toward inner peace and entrepreneurial freedom. By bringing awareness to our everyday lives, we can notice the moment between stimulus and response. When we are triggered, this awareness helps us shed our blocked energy. It’s about recognizing that split second before we react and choosing to respond differently.

Experiencing Energy

Last night, a powerful storm passed through my town. The intensity woke me up. I listened to the rain pelting our metal roof and wondered if the hail would break through the skylight. I looked out the window and saw the sky light up every two seconds with no sound. Compelled to get up, I walked around the house, pausing at different windows to observe the storm’s energy. It was both scary and exhilarating. In my sleepy state, I felt a profound connection with the storm’s pure energy.

The Aftermath and Reflection

In the morning, the storm’s aftermath was evident. Branches were scattered, tree limbs were broken, and some trees were uprooted from their hundred-year foothold. This powerful storm lasted only 20 minutes, yet it left a significant impact. Similarly, our emotional storms can be intense but short-lived. With practice, we can learn to let these storms pass more quickly, leaving us with clarity and peace.

Journaling Prompts:

Reflect on a recent moment when you were triggered. How did you respond? What might have changed if you had paused to notice the moment between stimulus and response?

Think about a time when you felt a strong connection with the natural world. How did that experience make you feel? What did it teach you about the energy within and around you?

Reflect on an emotional storm you recently experienced. How long did it last? What steps can you take to shorten the duration of future emotional storms?

“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”
