Are You Making Decisions from Love? Or Fear?

love or fear

Like you, In my work life and non-work life, I make lots of decisions. As Driven Entrepreneurs, you make more than the norm.  A while back I started to pay attention to the decisions I was making. I got curious about whether I was making them from Love, or from Fear.

I started to notice that when I received requests where I had to say yes or no,  many of my responses were often coming from Fear. For me, saying no is difficult. I don’t want to disappoint people (Fear). I don’t want to feel guilty (Fear). I don’t want to miss out (Fear). So, I would justify my decisions and often find myself having to follow through on promises or commitments I wish I had not made.

One of the 10 Disciplines is Say No…Often. This Discipline helped me begin making my decisions from Love. Here, we encourage you to say no to everything that doesn’t fit into the first 5 Disciplines (if you’re not familiar with the first 5, you can download your free e-book to review all 10 here).

When we make our decisions from Love, we are clear about what to say yes to and what to say no to. Our boundaries are in place and we protect them. When we do this, we have the mindshare, time, and energy to make the impact we are capable of. Saying no is Love.

Here’s a simple exercise you can do today. Using your One Place (Discipline 8), write Love on the left and Fear on the right.  Simply notice every time you have to make a decision. Even easy ones. Pause and ask yourself, is this decision coming from Love or Fear? Place a checkmark under “Love” or “Fear” after your decisions. At the end of the day, add them up to bring awareness to where your decisions were coming from that day.

During our Group Coaching Program, we teach you how to Say No…Often gracefully and by being useful. And, we dive deep into all 10 Disciplines to ensure you successfully implement them into your life. Our sessions are highly rated and will make a huge difference in your life.
